Thappad starring Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Ratna Pathak Shah, Kumud Mishra and Dia Mirza opened to positive reviews from the audience and critics. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film highlights the subject of domestic violence and the lead actors Taapsee and Pavail are flooded with lots of compliments for their performances.
Along with the critics and audience, even many Bollywood celebs are showering praises for the film and its actors. One such compliment’s film’s actor Pavail Gulati received was from Vidya Balan and it was quite an interesting one.
In the film, Pavail plays Taapsee Pannu’s husband who slaps her in a party amid a lot of people and isn’t even sorry about it. He opened up about the reactions he received from people and celebs and about Vidya Balan, the actor told Mid Day, “I had goosebumps while talking to her. She said, ‘I hate you; and I hate myself for liking you in the end’.”
Further, about his character, Gulati shared, “Vikram was a layered character. Sir (director Anubhav Sinha) wanted him to [come across] as a nice guy so that he could be related to. We wanted people to hate him, but also sympathise with him.”
